Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 News

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has released its first list of candidates for the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections 2025, signaling the formal start of its campaign strategy in the state. Under the National   Democratic Alliance NDA framework, the BJP will contest 101 seats, while its key ally, the Janata Dal (United) or JDU, will also fight on 101 seats. The remaining seats have been divided among smaller alliance partners.

This announcement comes at a crucial phase as the nomination process is underway and election campaigns are gaining momentum across Bihar. According to party insiders, the BJP’s candidate selection focuses heavily on winnability, with many sitting MLAs being renominated, while several new faces have been introduced in constituencies where the party is looking to strengthen its base.

The list was finalized during a meeting of the party’s Central Election Committee (CEC), chaired by senior leaders in New Delhi. The panel reportedly reviewed each constituency’s performance in the 2020 elections, local feedback, and caste and community balance before finalizing names. Party leaders emphasized that the selection process was designed to reward effective grassroots leadership and ensure representation from all major social groups in Bihar.

Several constituencies witnessed intense internal competition for tickets, with multiple aspirants lobbying for nominations. However, the BJP leadership has attempted to strike a balance between experienced legislators and young, dynamic candidates to energize the voter base. The inclusion of new faces, particularly in urban and semi-urban constituencies, reflects the party’s effort to expand its appeal among first-time voters and youth.

The announcement also carries strategic political significance within the NDA. It reaffirms the BJP’s alignment with Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) after recent political uncertainties in the state. Party leaders have expressed confidence that the alliance remains strong and united in its goal to secure a decisive victory. The BJP’s campaign is expected to focus on themes like development, employment, law and order, and welfare schemes initiated under both the central and state governments.

Voting for the Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 will be held in two phases on November 6 and November 11 with counting scheduled for November 14. With less than a month to go, all major parties are in full gear, releasing manifestos, organizing rallies, and finalizing their respective strategies.

Political observers note that the BJP’s first candidate list will set the tone for the upcoming contest. The party’s ability to balance caste equations, manage internal factions, and project credible local leadership will likely determine its performance. With the opposition INDIA bloc also gearing up to challenge the NDA, the Bihar election is shaping up to be one of the most closely watched political battles of the year. The BJP’s list signals preparedness and clarity of approach, a blend of continuity and change  as it eyes another term of influence in Bihar’s political landscape. The coming weeks will reveal whether these choices can convert organizational strength into electoral success.
