As Nepal reels under violent protests and political chaos, the Andhra Pradesh Government has stepped up with urgent measures to protect Telugu-speaking citizens stranded in the Himalayan nation. A round-the-clock emergency cell has been launched to assist tourists, students, and families unable to return home amidst the ongoing crisis.

Why Telugu Citizens Are Stuck in Nepal

The unrest in Nepal was triggered by a controversial social media ban and frustration over corruption, unemployment, and rising prices. Protests quickly spiraled into deadly clashes, leaving 19 people dead and dozens critically injured. With curfews clamping down on daily life and flights severely disrupted, many Indian citizens, including Telugu-speaking travelers and students, were left stranded in Kathmandu and nearby towns, cut off from safe passage home.

Role of the Emergency Cell

The new emergency cell has been set up at AP Bhavan in New Delhi and is working directly with the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. Authorities have released helpline numbers, encouraging families in Andhra Pradesh to reach out for updates. The cell is not only tracking the stranded but also arranging temporary accommodation, coordinating safe return plans, and staying prepared for evacuation efforts if needed.

Assurance From the CM

Reinforcing the state’s commitment, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister said in a statement: “The safety of our people is our highest priority. We are working closely with India’s Ministry of External Affairs and the Embassy in Kathmandu to ensure that Telugu citizens get every possible support during this difficult time.”

Relief and Support on the Ground

As of now, about 30 Telugu-speaking citizens in Kathmandu have contacted the emergency cell. Officials expect more calls as the unrest continues. Families back home have expressed relief that the government acted without delay. Local Telugu associations in Nepal have also pitched in, working alongside embassy staff to provide food supplies and shelter to those stuck in curfew zones.

The Bigger Picture

The Indian Embassy has issued travel advisories, asking Indian nationals to obey curfew restrictions and avoid protest-hit areas. States like Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh are all racing to track their citizens abroad, coordinating evacuation plans with New Delhi. For Telugu families waiting anxiously in Andhra Pradesh, the newly set-up emergency cell has become a vital lifeline.

Parting Thoughts

The AP Government has made it clear: their operations won’t stop until every Telugu citizen is safe. The emergency cell will continue round-the-clock until stability returns to Nepal and all stranded individuals make it back home. Right now, the message is firm and reassuring no one will be left behind.
