But a closer look reveals uneven trends: while some zones have seen declines due to increased patrolling, Pardi, Yashodhara Nagar, and Wadi divisions have witnessed spikes in fatal assaults and attacks linked to local enmities. Senior officers attribute the stability in total cases to effective investigation and rapid response, but admit that preventive policing in fringe areas needs reinforcement.
“Urban violence is evolving these are not organized gang hits but spontaneous acts triggered by anger, alcohol, or domestic stress,” said a senior police official from Nagpur Crime Branch.
