In a dramatic early-morning operation, Noida Police engaged in a fierce encounter with two armed criminals in the Surajpur area, injuring both suspects and bringing an end to their attempted escape. The incident unfolded during a routine checking drive and highlights the police’s intensified crackdown on organised theft and armed crime in the region.

The encounter took place near the Mojer Wear Golchakkar service road when a police patrol noticed a motorcycle without a registration number moving suspiciously. When officers signalled the riders to stop, the duo attempted to flee at high speed, diverting their vehicle towards a nearby railway track and jungle-lined area to evade capture.

As police followed, the suspects allegedly opened fire in an attempt to escape. The police team responded swiftly in self-defence, firing back and injuring both men in their legs. The suspects were immediately overpowered and taken into custody. No police personnel were injured during the exchange.

The arrested men were later identified as residents of Bulandshahr and Hapur, with a known history of criminal activity. Preliminary investigations suggest their involvement in multiple cases of theft and burglary across Noida and surrounding districts, making them long-time targets of law enforcement.

A search conducted at the spot led to the recovery of an illegal firearm of .315 bore along with live and spent cartridges. Police also seized a stolen motorcycle, cash allegedly taken from a temple donation box, a mobile phone, burglary tools, and other stolen valuables. Officials believe the recovered items link the suspects to several recent theft incidents in the area.

Both injured accused were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment under police guard. Once medically cleared, they are expected to be produced before the court and face strict legal action. Authorities are also investigating whether the duo is connected to a larger criminal network operating in the NCR region.

Senior police officials stated that the encounter reflects Noida Police’s zero-tolerance approach toward armed criminals. They reiterated that regular patrolling, vehicle checks, and intelligence-based operations will continue to curb crime and ensure public safety.

The Surajpur encounter has once again brought attention to the challenges faced by police in fast-growing urban regions. However, residents have welcomed the swift action, viewing it as a strong message that criminal activities will not be allowed to thrive in the city.
