In a major boost to India’s ongoing battle against Left-Wing Extremism, security forces achieved a landmark victory on Monday by eliminating two top Naxalite leaders during a high-stakes operation in the Abujhmad region of Narayanpur, near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah, taking to social media, praised the relentless efforts of the security personnel. He described the operation as a significant step in “systematically dismantling the top leadership of the Naxals, breaking the backbone of red terror.” The two neutralized figures, Kadari Satyanarayana Reddy alias Kosa and Katta Ramachandra Reddy, were both Central Committee members of the outlawed CPI (Maoist) and carried bounties of ₹40 lakh each on their heads.
Monday’s operation was the culmination of actionable intelligence regarding Maoist presence in the dense forests of Abujhmad. Early in the morning, joint teams of the Chhattisgarh Police and the Central Armed Police Forces initiated a combing operation that soon escalated into multiple firefights. After intense engagement, both targeted leaders were killed. The security forces recovered an AK-47, an INSAS rifle, a BGL launcher, a large stockpile of explosives, and Maoist communication materials from the encounter site.Officials confirmed that both leaders hailed from Telangana and had been deeply involved in Naxalite operations for decades. Their demise is expected to disrupt Naxal strategies and morale in the wider Bastar region, considered one of the last redoubts of Maoist guerrillas in central India. This year alone, security agencies have eliminated nearly 250 Naxalites in Chhattisgarh through a series of targeted operations—a record reflecting the government’s commitment to eradicating violent extremism from the region.
Amit Shah also reiterated the resolve of the central government, noting that these coordinated operations are steadily weakening the Naxal network. He hailed the professionalism of the forces and expressed hope that such successes would bring long-lasting peace to affected communities.
As celebrations echo within the ranks of security forces, locals and officials alike are viewing this as a pivotal blow to organized Naxal violence, giving fresh impetus to development and stability across central India.
