Srinagar — In a significant development that has sent shockwaves across job-seeking communities, the Crime Branch Kashmir’s Economic Offences Wing has formally filed a chargesheet against two individuals involved in a large-scale recruitment scam. The accused allegedly tricked multiple unemployed youth by promising secure government jobs in exchange for hefty payments.
Investigators revealed that the duo targeted aspirants desperate for stable employment, convincing them that they had “high-level contacts” within government departments. Several victims reportedly handed over substantial amounts of money believing their appointments were guaranteed. But once the payments were made, the accused disappeared, cutting off all communication and leaving the victims devastated.
During the probe, authorities discovered that one of the accused even went to the extent of impersonating a Kashmiri migrant to make the scheme appear more credible. This false identity helped him gain the trust of many vulnerable job-seekers who were looking for genuine recruitment opportunities.
The chargesheet includes serious offences such as cheating by impersonation, dishonest inducement, and criminal conspiracy. With strong evidence gathered, the case has now moved to court for further judicial proceedings.
Police officials have appealed to the public to remain cautious and verify the authenticity of any job-related claims before making financial commitments. They emphasized that no legitimate recruitment process requires money in exchange for appointments, and any such demand should immediately raise red flags. This case highlights a concerning trend of employment scams preying on the hopes of young aspirants. Authorities believe that firm action and public awareness are crucial to preventing similar frauds in the future. For the victims, the filing of the chargesheet marks an important step toward justice, as they hope the legal process will hold the accused accountable.
